ocumentCloud is an index of primary source documents and a tool for annotating, organizing and publishing them on the web.
Documents are contributed by journalists, researchers and archivists. If your organization does document-driven investigations, we’d love to have you join us. Using the DocumentCloud workspace, you can upload documents, share them with your team, and conduct structured searches and analyses based on extracted entities — the people, places, and organizations mentioned in the text. As a contributor, you will soon be able to download a lightweight document viewer to embed documents right on your own website.

In this case Carnegie looked at tweets during 2008-2009 to measure consumer confidence and presidential job approval. The Twitter-derived sentiment measurements were more volatile day-to-day than the polling data, but when the researchers “smoothed” the results by averaging them over a period of days, the results often correlated closely with the polling data.

After the 2008 U.S. presidential election, I interviewed Arun Chaudhary, New Media Road Director of Obama for America, for my book, YouTube and Video Marketing: An Hour a Day. Chaudhary told me, "Folks really seemed to respond to being allowed to see the candidate unedited. In a sense they wanted to see the candidates in the raw and make their own decision, not to feel like they were being fed media. With a candidate as compelling as Barack Obama was, it made a lot of sense to let them see him in this manner. The more people actually saw him speak and hear his views, the more likely they were to vote for him. With a different candidate one might need to take a different strategy, but for us Barack Obama was always the star; we were just the backup singers."

Most engines look at several factors related to links, including age. Old (established) links tend to indicate authority, whereas new ones tend to indicate freshness and relevance. You can get by with either, but it’s best to have both authority and relevance.
-
If, on the other hand, you’re hoarding your link juice, or linking out solely to low quality sites, or your site’s nothing but broken links, then by all means correct that with some quality outlinks and I bet you’ll see an uplift. Michael Geneles has done some testing on this, and it is his opinion that outbound linking behavior does have some effect on rankings. He of course doesn’t recommend link hoarding, and he prefers to link out to sites with equal/higher mozRank.
